Meet Karen Calton

Wife, Mother, Lawyer, active Needham Resident 

Karen was born in Melrose, Massachusetts.  Her father grew up in Lynn and her mother was a Romanian who immigrated to this country just after World War II.  Karen and her family have lived in or around Needham since 2011.  She is an elected Needham Town Meeting member in Precinct D and has served in various volunteer positions in Town.  Karen has been an active member of St. Joseph Parish, serving as Director of Development for the Parish & Schools, as well as, being a Religious Education teacher and a Lector.  

Karen is married to Eric, an Iraq War Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years. They have four daughters, two of whom attend the Pollard Middle School.

Karen has spent most of her professional career engaged in local, state or federal government service. Karen began her involvement in civic affairs while attending Loyola University-Chicago.  She then attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating in 1997. She served as the Civil Law Counsel for the Illinois legislature right out of law school and then in 2001, she moved to Washington, D.C. where her work ranged from being a senior member of Committee staff, to becoming Chief of Staff for a Member of Congress.  Karen is an active member of the Massachusetts, Illinois and District of Columbia Bar and is currently the Director of Compliance & Deputy General Counsel for GreenCare Collective, Inc.
